28 | Douglas Greencorn.png Greencorn, Douglas "Dougie Duke" Cleveland - 70, Canso, Guysborough County formerly of Queensport, passed away Friday, January 21st, 2022. Doug was born on September 17th, 1951, in Guysborough, Co.; he was the son of the late Gladys (Ehler) and Everette Greencorn. Douglas worked doing forestry in the winter for a couple years and worked for many years at the fish plant in Canso and Aulds Cove. Doug was very well known in the community and was known for being kind and always smiling. Doug had a heart of gold and didn't have one bad bone in his body. He always tried to be there for people and loved to laugh and make others smile. Doug had a strong love for 80s rock music. He liked listening to it while working out or during holidays with his 2nd family. He has probably watched every horror movie that's ever been released, and was the biggest food lover we have ever seen. Although Doug didn't have children, his biggest loves will always be his pets, Hurky (deceased), Tommy (deceased) and Rex. Doug was always an animal lover and would feed the homeless cats on the boardwalk in town. He loved going for walks, visiting friends, having a daily phone call with Hiram Horton, going to church on Sunday in Guysborough and stopping into Robins to get his weekly coffee. He is survived by his brothers, Francis (Leona) Greencorn, BC; Melvin (Loan) Greencorn, Vancouver; Harold (Charlotte) Greencorn, Guysborough; Carmen (Mearlin) Greencorn, California, USA. Besides his parents, was predeceased by his brother, Howard (Susan) Greencorn; sister, Queenie (Ivan) Greencorn; brother, Carl Greencorn. Although not blood related, he always spent time with and every holiday with the Dort’s and Horton’s and considered them his own family. He is survived by Grace Dort, Hiram Horton, Linda Dort, Tiffany (Robert) Dort, Tyrone (Tammy) Horton, Alicia (Zachary) Horton, Candace Horton, Castiel Horton, Carter Doucette, Kobe and Kyren Horton. He was one of a kind and will truly be missed by all. There will be no public visitation. There will be a private funeral service for family on February 5th, 2022. Memorial donations in Doug's memory can be made to the family or your local SPCA. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Homes, Canso. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at: www.haverstocks.com | ||
