ANTHONY (Wilson), Gladys Caroline - 88, Kennetcook, Hants Co., passed away peacefully and went to be with her Lord on May 31, 2003, at her home in Kennetcook. Born April 20, 1915, in Manchester, Conn., she was a daughter of the late James and Sarah Wilson, where she graduated from Manchester High School in 1933. Gladys was married to Tennyson Russell Anthony of Kennetcook on June 6, 1936. She enjoyed playing the organ, piano and directing the church choir at the United Church of Canada, Kennetcook. She was a lifelong member of the United Church Women. She served as Sunday school superintendent for the village congregation. In Kennetcook for a number of years, she voluntarily taught music in the public school as well as office practice to night courses. Gladys at one time was substitute teacher in the elementary school in Upper Kennetcook. She was known especially in recent years for her weekly choir rehearsal and Bible study, held in her home. She was an avid church worker in the United States, being a long-standing member of the Nazarene World Missionary Society, Junior Church coordinator, and Sunday school teacher in Manchester, Conn. She had also played the piano for many years at The Church of the Nazarene, Manchester, Conn., where she was a member of a well-known ladies' trio and also played at The Church of Nazarene, Windsor. She was a pianist as well for Cornerstone Christian School, Manchester. In her spare time, Gladys gave private piano lessons to youths in both Manchester and Kennetcook. Gladys leaves her daughters, Adrienne A. (Michael) Moore, Kennetcook; Priscilla C. (Grant) Swank, Windham, Me.; son, Winston W. (Betty) Anthony, Grand Falls, N.B.; sister, Gertrude Wilson Fogg, Manchester, Conn.; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Gladys was predeceased by her husband, Tennyson, in 1980; her brother, J. Erris Wilson. Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in J. Wilson Allen Funeral Home, Hwy. 354, Kennetcook. Funeral will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday in Kennetcook United Church, Kennetcook, Rev. Larry Collins officiating, assisted by Chuck Patterson, Lt. and Rev. Grant Swank. Private family burial in Kennetcook United Church Cemetery, Kennetcook. Family flowers only, memorial donations in her memory may be made to Kennetcook United Church Building Fund, The Church of the Nazarene, Windsor, or a charity of choice. Arrangements are entrusted to J. Wilson Allen Funeral Home, Highway 354, Kennetcook, 1-902-362-2440.
