Age 81, of South Maitland, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2013. Born on January 23, 1932, in Noel Shore, Frank was a son of the late Ernest and Ellen (Hines) Miller. Frank is survived by his wife of 57 years, the former Robena 'Babe' Withrow, South Maitland; sons, Tim (Linda), Hammonds Plains, Wayne (Denise), South Maitland; grandsons, Jay, Troy, both of Hammonds Plains; granddaughters, Holly, Brynn, both of South Maitland. Coming from a large family, Frank is also survived by sisters, Ora (Fred) Nolan, Ruby (Ray) Dimock, Bertha (Ronald) Hollingsworth, Opal (Joe) Liutkus, Erma (Ron) Lamond, Pauline Keating, Kaye Borden; sister-in-law, Betty Miller; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Harry (Bernice), Lou, Jack (lost overseas in the Second World War); sisters, Myrtis (Henry) Hennigar, Aileen (Lester) Fahey. Frank worked all his life for McCulloch's Lumber and stayed with the company as it passed through various owners. He was a true friend to anyone having the privilege of knowing him, and his family has heard many stories of how he helped strangers who often soon became friends. Known far and wide for having a bountiful garden, Frank loved nature and the outdoors. If he had to be inside, he loved to read
western books or to challenge someone to a game of 45s. Frank was a long-time resident of The Mira, and we thank the nurses and staff of A Ward for their care and compassion during Frank's time with them. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Friday from 7-9 p.m. and funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m., both in South Maitland United Church, Rev. Marilyn MacDonald officiating. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia or a charity of choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit.
