- Rupert was a ships carpenter in Maitland, N.S. and his second wife, Kate, was a boarding house cook in Maitland. He, Kate and son Harry Alvin emigrated to Portland, Maine in about 1894. In 1900, the family moved to Bath where Rupert was a ships carpenter and later a member of the Bath Police Department. After Kate's death Rupert and his children lived at various times in Portland; Quincy, Massachusetts; and Mobile, Alabama. About 1950 he voluntarily entered a State Hospital for the Aged in Rockland, Massachusetts, where he died August 18,1954.
Rupert's first wife, Elmira Laffin, was his second cousin, once removed.
