John "a proprietor of patent medicines, drove into Yarmouth with his medicine wagon on September 22nd. He took passage the same evening for Boston, but was taken ill of inflammation in Boston, and returned to Yarmouth. He at once took to his bed, summoned a physician, but continued to grow worse until Sunday afternoon, when he expired."
News was received here today of the sudden death at Yarmouth, of Mr. John S. Archibald, eldest son of Mrs. Matthew Archibald, Park St., Truro. Mr. Archibald was ill but a few days with inflammation of the bowels. His mother was telegraphed for Saturday. The remains are expected to arrive here tonight. The funeral will take place from the residence of Mrs. Archibald, Park St., at 2:30 tomorrow. [Truro Daily News - Oct 5 1896]
