- HENNIGAR, Chester Cyril 'Sonny' ? Passed away in Central Newfoun-dland Regional Health Centre, Grand Falls-Windsor, N.L., on Friday, March 1st, 2013, after a lengthily battle with lung disease. Born in Windsor, N.S. on March 15, 1943, he was a son of the late Harry and Geneva Hennigar (Easter). He was also predeceased by brother, William Loran in 1994. Chester joined
the RCAF immediately after graduat-ing from high school and retired with the rank of Warrant Officer at CFB Chatham, N.B. During his time in the air force he was stationed in Germany, The Golan Heights, Greenwood, Val Dor, Borden, Debert and Chatham to name a few. He was later employed by the Department of Transport as Fire Chief at Gander International Airport until
his retirement in 2004. Chester and his crew were among the first on the scene of the crash of the Arrow Air Flight on December 12, 1985 which claimed the lives of 256 mostly comprised of the 101 Airborne Division of the United States Army. Chester was an avid outdoorsmen and enjoyed spending time at his lakefront cabin in Newfoundland where he spent much of his time
riding his snowmobile in winter and four wheeler in the summer. Left to mourn with loving memories are his wife, Ella (Newman); daughters, Heather Russell (Howard) of Miramichi, N.B.; Cindy Milton (David) of Edmonton, Alta.; Tammy Perrin of Moncton, N.B.; stepdaughters, Charlene Drover (Craig) of Badger, N.L.; Christine Elliott (Christopher) of Gander, N.L.; brothers, Tom (Carol) of Kennetcook; Warren (Shirley) of Lethbridge, Alta.; sisters, Barbara Hudson (Tom) of Trenton, Ont.; Sharron Touchie (David) of Truro; grandchildren, Chelsea, Cameron, Andrew, Sean, Carley, Bradley, Breanna, Cameron; mother-in-law, Gertie Drover; brother- in-law, William Drover; sisters-in-law, Gertie Sullivan, Rebecca Lush (Dean), Agnes Way (Roy), Amelia Gardner (Steven), Bernadette Drover (Ed), Maxine Drover (Tony), Helen Drover (Harve), Yvonne Drover, Rose Drover (Junior); a large circle of other relatives and friends and a special thanks to Phyllis Luff in this time of need with her comfort and love. Cremation has already taken place and his remains have been returned to Nova Scotia for burial at a later date.
