BEANLANDS, Margaret Alma - 97, Halifax, formerly of Seabright, passed away Monday April 14, 2008, at her residence in Melville Heights, Halifax. We are saddened by the loss of our very special mom, grandmother and great-grandmother. Born in Truro on February 22, 1911, she was a daughter of the late James and Melissa (Hennigar) Tibbitts. In her earlier years, Mom worked at Margolians and as a dental assistant in Truro. She was a dedicated homemaker and mother to her two daughters. Mom always enjoyed family gatherings, watching hockey, baseball and playing cards. She was a fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs. She also loved her home on the ocean in Seabright, bowling, traveling and playing the ukulele with the White Caps Seniors Club. Mom was so loved and will be deeply missed by her daughters, Sandra (Randy) Piercey, Fredericton, N.B., and Carol (Greg) Simms, Hubbards. Also left behind and who will miss her dearly are her granddaughters, Amy (Jason) Reid, Jill Piercey, Melissa (Jeff) Lloyd, Julie Piercey, Carrie Simms, and great-granddaughter, Mya May Reid; stepdaughters, Joan Allen, Doris MacIsaac, and stepson, John Beanlands, all of Halifax; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friend, Lottie Canning. Mom was predeceased by her first husband, Cecil Matson, and her second husband, Herbert Beanlands; brothers, Pat, Tom, Art, Fred "Ted", and George "Bud" Tibbitts; sister, Alice Gill. The family will receive visitors 7-9 p.m. Thursday, April 17, and funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, both in Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, 13549 Peggy's Cove Rd., Tantallon, Rev. Laurie Omstead officiating. A private family burial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia. Our special thanks to all the staff and moms friends at Melville Heights, and to Dr. Piccinini and nurses Shirley, Pat and staff at Cowie Hill Medical Clinic.
