James and Celia Harvey lived in Ellershouse, Nova Scotia, and raised 10 children. Ethel was a homemaker and James worked as a lumberman, until a leg injury caused him to loose his left leg. Timelines are not confirmed but in the 1920's the couple ran a general store in Ellershouse and James also was either a showmaker or repaired shoes , eveident by the sewing machine that was always in the upstairs landing.
